WEITMEER brings a breath of fresh air to the German indie pop scene.

With their debut song "Do you know what" they have achieved more than 100,000 streams since March 2022 and also released their first EP "Television". For an appearance at Rock am Ring and Rock in the Park 2023 they made it into the top 20 of the Warsteiner band contest in their first band year. For the renowned Rio Reiser Song Prize for German-speaking artists, WEITMEER is thisyear also nominated.They wowed their audience in particular with their positive energy and their rousing live performances, as co-headliner on the main stage of the Bielefeld Leinewebermarkt 2023 in front of none other than Alice Merton under Evidencecould ask.

Musically WEITMEER is influenced by American greats like Harry Styles and The 1975 as well as German artists like Provinz, Giant Rooks or ENNIO: Modern sounds meet retro charm of the 80s and 90s. Her German lyrics impressively express how the influence of social media, youth obsession with fitness and the constant fear of missing out has anchored itself in society. They consciously integrate English exclamations and Denglish words in order to take up the slang of the youth with wit and profundity. In doing so, they take into account the current linguistic development in Germany. Despite the danceable mood, a subtle mirror is held up to her fans, which invites them to think and reflect.

The band consists of Johannes Iwanow, Luca Stickan and Philipp Schlueer, who met in the summer of 2020 on the Sachsenbrücke in Leipzig's Stadtpark. All three can look back on a broad musical past and have toured with their bands in various cities in Germany and Europe. They shared the stage with well-known artists such as Silbermond, Revolverheld, Stanfour, 2Raumwohnung, Emma6 or Culcha Candela.
